Top Toys For Christmas - Ideas For Childrens Presents

Posted by Ledley Withenshaw - November 22nd, 2009

It seems that each Christmas season has a new set of top toys for Christmas. Adults spend hours searching retail stores looking for that special toy in time for the season. No one wants to disappoint a child, especially when it is Christmas. How can you find those top toys so that you can have them under your Christmas tree?

Start shopping early if you want to find those top toys for Christmas. As the holidays get closer, you will have a tougher time finding those toys. If you wait until Black Friday, your local stores may have already sold out of the toy.

For the girl on your shopping list, your list of top toys for Christmas is easy to select from considering that dolls and doll accessories remain high on the list. With the holiday season, Barbie is alway a great choice along with the Barbie Jammin’ Jeep for the lucky little girl who loves to ride around the back yard. Hannah Montana and her musical entourage make for great playtime. A really hot item is the animated pet. Zhu Zhu hamster pets are flying off the shelf as are the FurReal pets.

Top toys for Christmas always include action toys that captures the imagination of the boy on your list. With so many to choose from, two sure winners are the Bakugan 7 in 1 Maxus Dragonoid collection that is based on the popular TV anime series. Along with Bakugan, you’ll find Transformer also topping the list. Video gamers will be glad to know that PS3 and Will have various bundles available that are significantly lower in price than last year. Younger boys enjoy ride on toys such as Radio Flyer wagons.

To ensure that you can grab the top toys for Christmas for your kids, check at the discount stores online shops. Many of the nationwide chain discount stores have their own websites that can be useful in finding the most popular toys. If they have the toy in stock, they will often ship to your local store with no shipping charges. The best for this is Amazon, they may have stocked up on the toys throughout the year in anticipation of a toy being the season’s top seller.

If all else fails, check at online auction sites for top toys for Christmas. There are people that buy the top toys early and are willing to sell them at a profit. Be warned, that you may pay two to three times the amount for the toy as you would pay in a retail store. However, if you must have this toy for your child’s Christmas to be complete, you may want to pay the extra price.

If you absolutely cannot find the top toys for Christmas, you can either start using your best psychology to convince the child that it is not the toy he or she wants or simply tell your child it may not be possible. Believe or not, children can handle disappointment, sometimes better than adults.

Looking for hot Christmas toys ? How about the Mindflex Game from Mattel.

Christmas Is A time For Traditional Gifts

Posted by Harold Denning - November 18th, 2009

Christmas is rapidly approaching and many of us will be starting to think about what gifts to buy this year. It’s always a good idea to buy early for Christmas - and that’s especially true this year.

Last year many retailers over stocked. They then had to offer heavy discounts in order to clear the shelves. Coupled with the fact that the economic climate is, whilst improving, still somewhat less than rosy, it’s not hard to see why a lot of retailers have opted for relatively low stock levels this year.

However, as we get nearer to Christmas, it might be difficult to get hold of toys and other popular gift items. Toys could be especially hard to find. The trouble is that most toys are made in Asia nowadays - so even if retailers try to replenish their empty shelves by placing more orders, the delivery time may mean that the new stock does not arrive in time for Christmas.

One of the best selling toys so far this year is Zhu Zhu Pets. These are a collection of five robotic hamsters, complete with an array of toys and accessories, which incorporate artificial intelligence. This allows them to interact both with the children playing with them and their surroundings. Zhu Zhu pets were only released in August of 2009 - and kids are going crazy for them. Assuming stock levels hold up, they look set to be this year’s top selling Xmas toy.

They are already becoming difficult to find - and prices are rising rapidly. You can now find third party vendors on both Amazon and eBay selling them for considerably more than the recommended retail price.

However, if you can’t get hold of the latest fad toy, or if you don’t want to pay inflated prices for a fad that could easily die out in just a few months, then you might wish to consider a more traditional toy instead. Whilst these may not be the very latest and greatest craze - the simple fact that they have stood the test of time says a lot.

For example, if you were buying for a young boy, a son or nephew perhaps, a train set is always a popular choice. A good Hornby Dublo train set will last for years and will still be giving children enjoyment when the latest fad has fizzled out and been replaced by something newer.

You could just as easily apply the same reasoning to perennial favourites like Lego, Monopoly and Scrabble. All of these have been around for years and have adapted to meet the demands of today’s children.

See the full range of Hornby Dublo train sets - including the famous Hornby oo Flying Scotsman.

Games Played On Christmas Eve

Posted by Rene A Lacape - September 9th, 2009

Of all the games that has been played, there is one particular game that is not only appropriate for childrens who are normally restless and want to have fun during these gatherings, but also for the adults who do not mind having some physical fun activities during Christmas eve. This game is related to the present and gift giving process for the childrens. The title of the game is “open one gift on Christmas Eve” and some twist and turn is added to the game to make it more fun and enjoyable.

In order to increase the fun level of this game, try and create a treasure hunt feel by leaving clues around the area instead of presenting it like the past Christmas eve. Hide the gift in certain areas of the house and let the childrens try and solve the clues to find their beloved Christmas presents. For this innovative game, you can write down the clues on anything you want. For example, you can make use of the endless Chirstmas cards supplies you have, or some people have made use of cardboards made out in the shape of the Christmas trees or the Christmas tree ornaments.

Whichever method you choose, write a clue on each of your items and leave those around the house. You start by handing each child the first clue. It might say, “you sleep here every night” and the children will run to their beds. On their pillow you have placed another clue that might say, “mom’s eggs taste better with this” and the children head to the spice cabinet, where they find another clue on the salt. The final clue (and depending on the ages of your children and their tolerance, you might have only 5 clues for this game, or many more) will be the gift itself. To make it extra fun, have the gift be under the tree. Your children won’t see that coming!

During Christmas eve celebrations if you happen to have lots of people over at your house, then it would do no harm to try and play the “circle game”.To play this game, have everyone gather around and sit in a circle and the first person would start the game by saying “In my Christmas stocking there is an apple”. Then the next person in line would have to repeat the exact line but add in another item along with the original sentence. The fun part with these game is that each added item mentioned by the individuals would have to follow the alphabetical order. Anyone who fails to repeat the sentence is considered out of the game and the winner is the person who successfully says out the whole sentence without fail.

If you want to have fun by doing physical activities, then you can try the everlasting game of musical chairs. To add in the Christmas mood, use fast tempo Christmas music that everyone knows how to sing. Make sure the participants enjoy themselves by singing along to the songs and dancing along to it. This makes the game more interesting and fun since most likely the people would be so engrossed in their singing and dancing that they forget they have to concentrate on grabbing a seat when the music stops. This game continues on until finally the last person remains.

In everyone’s mind no doubt the main event of the evening would be the arrival of the beloved santa claus, so for this moment it would be suitable to play the game aptly titled “Where is Santa?”. For this game, every participant has to sit around in a circle and one random individual is chosen to be Rudolph. The chosen individual would leave he room and the remaining people would choose one of them to be Santa Claus. After choosing, Rudolph returns and starts looking for the real Santa. The person chosen to be Rudolph would be standing in the circle and trying to find the chosen Santa. Santa, however, would be looking at other individuals sitting in the circle and and when they wink at anyone of them, then the person they winked at would have to yell out “ho ho ho”.

After the chosen Rudolph finally figures out who is the chosen Santa Claus, then the process starts again and a new Rudolph and Santa is chosen again and the game restarts again.

By Christmas Eve, your Christmas cards have been on display for a few weeks, so maybe it’s time to play a game with them. Have someone set up a laundry basket, or a gift box a few feet away (the distance depends on the age of your players and ability). Have them try to toss the cards into the box or basket. This sounds easy, but different cards of different weights and styles will react differently and can be harder than expected to get into the box or basket.

Party and events are not very easy to handle. But with the right person like Rene Lacape, you can never go wrong. He is the best in his field and his ideas and themes are just excellent. You should experience his organization skills and be prepared to be amazed.
